Nothing is more important to the Doctors at Dental Associates of Delaware than our patient’s dental health. This is why we are happy to support National Oral Hygiene month this October. When it comes to oral hygiene, it is vital that our patients are aware that shortcuts in your regiment can lead to oral diseases. Our hope is that you will take the guidelines provided to you below to create a more effective approach to your oral hygiene habits.
The ADHA & National Oral Hygiene Month
Most of you outside of the dental world may not be familiar with National Oral Hygiene Month and how it originated. This month long campaign was created by the American Dental Hygienists’ Association, along with Wrigley Jr. Company to promote awareness about the importance of a healthy oral hygiene regiment. This year marks the sixth annual National Oral Hygiene Month and we are happy to join the ADHA in raising awareness and increase public knowledge about the importance of maintaining great oral health.
Do The Daily Four
This year’s campaign is focused around the slogan called “do the daily four”. Although there are many important things involved with maintaining great oral hygiene including regular visits to your local dentist, here are some basic helpful habits:
- Brush at least twice daily
- Floss daily
- Rinse with antimicrobial mouth wash
- Chew sugar-free gum
We encourage patients to make sure to schedule regular checkups at our Brandywine, Hockessin, Middletown, Wilmington, Millsboro, or Ocean View, DE office.
