It is important to protect your smile through a great oral hygiene regiment as well as protecting it through everyday activities.
What Is National Facial Protection Month?
National Facial Protection Month is held during the month of April where dental and orthodontic professionals spread the word about protecting your face, mouth and head. Spring is often the time when we find that patients suffer the most injuries resulting from sports-related accidents. Although we are able to handle emergency situations, we would rather have our patients be prepared when it comes to protecting their smile. Our Doctors join the following associations in recognizing this month:
- Academy For Sports Dentistry
- American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry
- American Dental Association
- American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons
- American Association of Orthodontists
How You Protect Your Mouth This Spring
One of the best ways to protect your mouth during athletic activities is to wear a customized mouth guard while participating in any sports or athletic activities. The American Dental Association estimates 200,000 injuries are prevented each year in high school and college football because of the use of faceguards and mouth guards. The Doctors at our Brandywine, Hockessin, Middletown, Wilmington, Millsboro, and Ocean View, DE offices would be more than happy to assist you in building a customized mouth guard to help you protect your teeth and mouth.
